A Port Elizabeth man, who was convicted for fraud, involving seven million rand, has been jailed for an effective 12 years.
Alain-Paul Oelofse, dubbed the Ice Man, was sentenced in the city's commercial crimes court on Friday.
He was sentenced to a total of 16 years in jail, but some of the counts of which he was convicted, will run concurrently.
The court heard that Oelofse had placed advertisements in newspapers between 2001 and 2003, inviting a response from people interested in a home-based manufacturing business.
The state said he entered into contracts with manufacturers whereby they would manufacture ice which would be delivered to outlets but the venture collapsed.
