"I chose to have an affair with this man" Cradock teen

A man from Cradock, wanted for the rape and kidnapping of a 13 year-old girl, is in police custody and on his way back to the Karoo town.

The man, who is believed to have been in a sexual relationship with the child, was arrested in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

Free State police spokesperson Chaka Marope says the 52 year-old man was with the girl when he was apprehended at a guest house in Universitas, Bloemfontein.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said the man had first abducted the girl in August.

He was subsequently arrested and was supposed to appear in court last week, but never showed up.

The man and the girl, who is in grade six, are believed to have been in Bloemfontein since the 19th of October.

They're both expected back in Cradock on Wednesday where the man will appear in court.

Marope says the child admitted during questioning that she had a chosen to have an affair with the suspect out of her own free will.
