A police task team is hunting for two men who stabbed a 40-year-old woman to death and seriously wounded her husband during a home invasion on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena, said the attack occurred in the Bhongweni Locality near Mthatha.
She said two men entered the home of the couple and demanded money and cell phones. Captain Koena said they stabbed the woman and her husband, but she died on the scene.
The husband, who is also 40-year-old, was rushed to a hospital in stable condition.
The couple’s stolen silver-grey Mercedes Benz vehicle was later found on the N2 near Sobangweni.
Cases of murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm are now under investigation.
