"Hungry thief" sentenced for stealing a sheep

A 26-year-old man was sentenced in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates Court on Wednesday for stealing a sheep.

Ashley Blaauw was sentenced to nine months in prison after pleading guilty.

He said he stole the sheep from a farm in Vrederust because his family was hungry.

Blaauw slaughtered the sheep worth R3 000.

The meat has since been returned to the farmer.
