Hundreds of people attend anti xenophobia march in PE


More than a thousand people including students and staff took part in a march against xenophobia at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth on Thursday. 

The march  was attended by Eastern Cape premier Phumullo Masualle as well as leaders from civil society, business and the Municipality.

Mayor Ben Fihla was also in attendance. 

SA Students congress spokesman Lubabalo Ndzoyiya said they wanted to present a unified show of support for their African compatriots.

"As we are marching from North to South campus we handing over signatures that have been signed by students, staff and community members. We are saying to the vice chancellor, we must speak in one voice and say NO to xenophobia" he said.
