An 11-year-old boy appeared before a Humansdorp magistrate on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed another boy to death.
The boy, from St Francis Bay, allegedly stabbed six-year-old Deacon Anoster with a knife while they were on their way home from school on Monday.
Deacon's parents reported him missing when he did not come home.
A local resident found the boy's body in bushes around 3am on Tuesday.
Six boys, between the ages of six and 11, were questioned before the young suspect was arrested.
The magistrate recommended that the boy be taken to a place of safety in Port Elizabeth, where a psychologist will assess whether he can distinguish right from wrong.
The boy will appear before the Humansdorp magistrate again on the 27th of March.
