Police in Port Elizabeth have opened up an inquest docket after a woman found a human skeleton in the bushes in Kinkelbos.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says a woman in her 40's was walking in the bushes near the N2 when she stumbled upon the skeleton just before the railway line.
She says the woman was looking for medicinal herbs in the bushes when she made the discovery.
Police were alerted just before 9 pm on Monday evening and a forensic pathologist was called to the scene to remove the remains.
The police in Kinkelbos are requesting the community to contact them with any information on a person they know who might have gone missing a long time ago.
