Thousands of residents in Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounding towns in the Eastern Cape woke up to the sound of electrical storms in the early hours of this morning.
Spokesperson for the PE branch of the SA weather service, Garth Sampson says there are strong to gale force winds in the Cape St Francis area at the moment, with wind speeds gusting up to 105 km/h.
He issued a warning for Kouga and Nelson Mandela Bay until 11 o'clock this morning.
Meanwhile, a house in Sunset drive in St Francis was hit by lighting during last night's storm, causing a fire.
Fire fighters were still on the scene moments ago.
