Port Elizabeth police have cordoned off a crime scene at a pharmacy in Seaview where a hostage situation is underway.
Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says two men are holding several people inside the pharmacy following an attempted robbery.
He says one of the suspects has a fire-arm.
"We have dispatched all our tactical response teams and other role players to assess the situation I can say that currently we have cordoned off the whole area and negotiations have taken place and we expect to diffuse the situation in the next half hour" he said.
Jarvis says the road has been cordoned off and motorists are advised to use alternative routes for now.
