Three people have died in a gruesome multiple-vehicle crash on the N2 between East London and Butterworth.
Provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie, said the three-vehicle accident occurred near the Khomga turn-off on Thursday afternoon.
She said two occupants in a car were killed while the third victim was in a bakkie involved in the head-on collision.
“Two other people in the bakkie sustained critical injuries and were taken to Frere Hospital (in East London) for treatment,” she said.
Rantjie said the occupants of the third vehicle, a Ford Ranger bakkie, escaped unhurt.
The Eastern Cape Department of Transport has appealed to motorists to exercise caution at all times on the province’s roads.
