Detectives from Seafield SAPS in Kleinemonde are seeking the assistance of the community to help them track down a suspect who killed an elderly man on Monday night.
Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says the 70-year-old victim's severely traumatised wife told police that she saw someone at their window at about 11.30 pm and alerted her husband.
As the husband tried to get out of bed, the suspect stuck his body through the window and shot him.
Govender says the suspect immediately fled without stealing anything.
During a preliminary investigation, forensic experts collected an item of clothing, possibly belonging to the suspect.
Any person with information is urged to contact SAPS.
The name of the victim will be released once his family members been informed.
