Police in Gqeberha opened up an inquest docket after a teenager died in a house fire in the early hours of Saturday.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at 6.25 am Kabega Park police responded to a complaint of a house on fire in Clarence Street in Westering.
She says after the blaze was doused the body of the 19-year-old teenager was discovered.
The victim was identified as Lukhanyo Kwikwi who was home alone.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says his mother was in Kwadwesi at the time.
No foul play is suspected and the cause of the fire is unknown.
It is alleged that the fire started in the kitchen.
