Five people were killed when a fully loaded minibus taxi crashed into a stationary heavy-duty truck loaded with bags of cement on Saturday morning.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says the accident happened shortly after 6 o'clock on the N2 between Peddie and Makhanda.
He says the deceased, two children an adult male and two women, died at the scene.
He says 11 passengers, including the driver were injured and rushed to Settlers Hospital for medical attention.
The driver of the truck escaped unharmed.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation
