Hitman in murder sentenced and turning state witness

Nosipho Sidabuka Jombile who was abducted and murdered in June last year.

One of the suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a retired Bhisho Legislature official in June last year has turned State witness.

The 29-year-old hitman Paul Adkins was sentenced in the Mthatha Magistrates Court on Thursday to an effective 35-years behind bars and will now testify against the other accused.

The 51-year-old Nosipho Jombile and her 22-year-old son were travelling from Mabaleni Locality in Tina Falls to Qumbu in June last year when their vehicle was blocked by a silver VW Polo with Durban registration plates.

Two occupants pretended to be enquiring about something from Jombile before they pointed a firearm at her and demanded money.

According to police, Jombile was dragged into their vehicle after the assailants assaulted her son with a pistol.

Jombile's body was found two days later at the Ziphunzana forest.

Regional NPA spokesperson Luxolo Tyali says her ex-husband, Phindile Jombile, who is also a former police officer, will be back in court on the 30th of August in connection with his wife’s murder.

He’s been charged along with his new wife, 40-year-old Lindiwe Komanisi Jombile, her 42-year-old sister Sibongile Komanisiand 55-year-old Danisile Botyumpha.

They’ve been accused of murder, attempted murder, and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
