The make-over of an Eastern Cape school attended by former president Nelson Mandela and other struggle luminaries took a step closer on Thursday.
The Historic Schools Restoration Project signed a memorandum of understanding with the Eastern Cape Education Department for the restoration and renovation of the Healdtown Comprehensive School in Fort Beaufort and St Matthews High School in Keiskammahoek.
According to Methodist bishop, Ziphpozihle Siwa, there are 23 historic school in the Eastern Cape out of a total of more than 50 countrywide that have been earmarked for an extreme make-over.
"The memorandum of understanding is to enhance a partnership between the Eastern Cape Department of Education and the Church in working together for the restoration of the schools so that they can be revived to their former glory to provide quality education," Siwa said
