High level government delegation meets in East London

Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle met with government parastatals in East London on Wednesday to come up a plan for a greater sense of urgency and improved accountability and better performance.

The Premier, Director General Mbulelo Sogoni, and senior officials met with the executives of the East London and Coega IDZ's, and the rural development agency as part of the first leg of these meetings.

Provincial government spokesperson Nomfanelo Kota says they've noted that some of the entities continue to receive poor audit reports.

"This speaks to issues of financial management and weaknesses in that area. We also have those entities like Coega IDZ which have consistently over the years produced very healthy audit reports, so this was part of what we had outlined in state of the province address and we will continue to interact with all the major stakeholders in the province." says Kota.
