The fraud case of two investment brokers accused of fleecing investors out of more than R17 million has been transferred to the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court.
31-year-old Micheal Rathbone and his 29-year-old partner Leon Lewitton appeared briefly in the PE Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The pair were arrested by the Hawks in November last year, for illegally operating their investment company known as Helping Hand Investment (PTY) LTD between June 2016 and July 2019.
According to the Hawks, the two allegedly recruited investors within Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas and promised a 15% to 45% return per annum.
They were granted bail of R50 000 each in December, and face a total of 193 charges which include fraud and theft.
The case was postponed to the 18th of March 2020.
