The private sector has come on board to help fight rhino poaching by donating a vehicle and night vision equipment to honorary rangers who patrol Shamwari and surrounding game reserves in the Eastern Cape.
Their spokesperson, John Best, says the volunteers comprise members from the Koukamma Hunting Club, which is affiliated to SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association, as well as members from the Quagga branch in Port Elizabeth.
He says the security company Intertrade in partnership with several other companies, including Tavcor, have made the donation to the honorary rangers for the next year.
