Heavy machinery brought into collapsed shopping mall site

The labour department has taken control of a collapsed mall construction site in Tongaat, north of Durban.
KwaZulu-Natal health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo says heavy machinery is been brought in to remove rubble from the site following the collapse late on Wednesday afternoon.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha confirmed a short while ago that the search and rescue operation had been called off so that the labour department could
move some of the rubble with heavy machinery.
One woman has been confirmed dead on the scene and 29 more people were hospitalised with various injuries.
Two of them were critical
Police say three people remain unaccounted for.
Meanwhile: An eThekwini Councillor has confirmed that the building plans for the mall, had not been passed.
eThekwini's deputy mayor, Nomvuzo Shabalala - who was on scene on TUesday night, said the company had been taken to court last month and construction should have stopped.
