 Port Elizabeth police are searching for two armed suspects following a shoot out at the Hungry Lion fast food outlet in Daku road in Kwazakhele.

Warrant officer Thembi Gwe says the suspects entered the shop on Tuesday night and that a shoot out ensued when police arrived on the scene.

Gwe says police mistook a security guard for one of the suspects and that he was shot in the leg in the exchange of gunfire.

Gwe says the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled by foot
