The community in the Mossel Bay area is making use of the health care services that the Transnet Phelophepa Health Care Train is
currently providing.
The train arrived at the end of August and will deliver health care services to the general public until this Friday, free of charge.
According to the organisation's Roelof Storm, up to 5 000 people have received medical treatment at the train and through its mobile clinics.
The train's next stop is Ashton.
The aim with the train is to support the Department of Health as well as to provide services that are not yet available at local clinics.
The train is operated on a day-to-day basis by a team of health care professionals and is situated at the Mossel Bay Harbour. People who do not have medical aid funds especially make use of the free services delivered. This includes screening for health problems, dentistry, optometry and even counselling sessions with qualified psychologists, all free of charge. The train is leaving on Friday.
