Members of a multi-disciplinary task team led by the Hawks have arrested a suspect for this weekend's shooting in Port Elizabeth in which four people were killed.
Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, says one person was critically injured in the suspected gang-related shooting in the Northern Areas on Saturday night.
He says the 29-year-old suspect was a passenger in a car when he was arrested in Standford Road on Tuesday morning.
Mulaudzi says the arrest has been welcomed by the head of the Hawks, Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza.
The National Head of the Hawks Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza praised the Task Team and said the efforts to restore order, peace and stability in the area. He said the partnership between the Hawks and the Eastern Cape police will be provide remedy in the gang-related problems in the area.
"The Task Team worked tirelessly following up information which led to the arrest of the suspect and we are confident that more suspects will be arrested soon" he said
