Hankey murder victim and suspect were related

 A 19-year old man from Hankey has appeared in the town court in connection with the brutal murder of a 13-year-old boy.

The teenage suspect, Gurshinn Plaatjies surrendered to police this week after Maxwell Plaatijies was found stabbed to death.

His body was discovered near an irrigation canal, reportedly with as many as 27 stab wounds

The accused and victim are related.

Police spokesperson, warrant officer Basil Seekoei says the matter was postponed until March 13th.
