A mother of three, who was shot and raped in her farmhouse in the Hankey district has told the Port Elizabeth High Court that she felt like they were wild animals being hunted down when the intruder forcefully entered her home.
The woman gave harrowing testimony on Tuesday about the events that transpired in March last year.
Testifying in camera, she said the suspect, 31-year-old Sebenzile Simane, fired shots as soon as he gained entry into her home.
She told the court she was shot in her buttocks while trying to shield her three young children who were between the ages of 10 and 16 at the time.
The woman said Simane, who was previously employed at the farm, tied them up and angrily told them he was owed R9000.
She said after he tied them up he threatened to rape her in front of her children.
She told the court that after she begged him not to do it in front of her children, he pushed her towards her bedroom and raped her.
The woman, who was very emotional at this point, also said the suspect then brought her 12-year-old daughter into her bedroom and touched her genitals.
She said the suspect then said in Afrikaans that 'this is nice' and as he was drawing closer to her daughter in an attempt to rape the child, she screamed, kicked and begged him not to rape her daughter.
The woman told the court that the suspect then raped her again but this time while she was lying next to her 12-year-old.
She said she eventually convinced him to go with her to withdraw money at the bank and this is when she was forced to get into the car and drove the two of them to an ATM in Hankey.
She told the court the suspect withdrew R4000 from her accounts and he then let her go just before midnight as he knew he would be able to withdraw another amount early the next day.
The woman said she had been bleeding since 8 pm and felt weak but she managed to drive to her husband's cousin's house to seek help.
Simane, who showed no emotions during the testimony, pleaded not guilty on Monday to a string of charges which include attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, causing children to witness a sexual offence, robbery and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The trial continues.
