Eastern Cape police have released the name of the river guide who drowned this weekend during an outing on the Storms River.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkholi identified him as the 31-year-old Bramwell Anthony Damons.
Damons was part of a group of nine who paddled on their rafts in the Storms River on Saturday.
The NSRI was alerted after the team did not return to their meeting point.
Craig Lambinon from the NSRI says eventually, eight of the members of the group arrived and informed officials that Damons had fallen into the water.
He says the group managed to pull him out of the water and performed CPR for an extended period, but to no avail.
His body was retrieved on Sunday and handed over to the Provincial pathology services.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
