Two security guards were shot and wounded on Monday night when four men opened fire on them while they were guarding a ward councillor's home in Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth.
Police have opened an attempted murder docket and are looking for the suspects who fled on foot.
Police say the incident happened in Mahambe-hlala street in Kwazakhele at around 8pm.
Both guards, a 52 year old man and a 38 year-old woman were injured in a hail of bullets and rushed to hospital.
The suspects took two shot guns from the victims before fleeing the scene.
