All beaches at Port Alfred have been closed following the sighting of a Great White shark.
The Ndlambe Municipality advises in a facebook posting sent out late on Friday afternoon that a Great White had been spotted behind the breakers off West beach.
The Directorate Community Protection Services has instructed lifeguards at Port Alfred's East beach and Kelly's Blue Flag beach to close the beach for swimming until further notice.
Ndlambe municipality Community Protection Services Deputy Director Fanie Fouche says this applies to all beaches at Port Alfred.
He's asking the public to please adhere to the instructions of lifeguards.
