The National Prosecuting Authority says it does not have enough evidence to prosecute Nelson Mandela's grandson, Mandla, on charges of grave tampering and bigamy.
This was confirmed on Tuesday by NPA spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali.
He told Algoa FM News that it had been some time since they received the case docket and then referred it back to the police for further investigation...
"We have taken the decision not to prosecute Mr Mandla Mandela on the charge of bigamy and grave tampering. We do not have enough evidence that will be admissible in court, and therefore wont lead to a conviction" he Tyali said
The grave tampering case against Mandla was opened by his aunt and several family members.
This was in reaction to his decision to remove the remains of three of Madiba's children from a family gravesite in Qunu and then reburied them at Mvezo where he is chief.
A court later ordered that the remains be returned.
Tyali also said that the NPA is still considering other cases against Mandla which are assault and pointing of a firearm.
