The "Keep Grahamstown Grahamstown" campaign says it rejects the re-opening of the name-change debate as a flagrant abuse and waste of public funds.
Spokesperson, Jock McConnachie, said this was announced by Makana mayor Zamuxolo Peter, this week.
According to McConnachie the Makana Municipality has set aside R250,000 towards the process over the next six months.
He says there has been no public consultation on the issue, nor has there been any debate on the matter in the Council Chamber.
McConnachie says they call on the public of Makana to reject the new process as an unnecessary waste of public money when it is already clear that the broad community does not favour the name change.
