Grahamstown police investigate possible abduction

Grahamstown police have requested the public to assist in their search for a car with four occupants.

Details are still sketchy, and according to police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, there are two men and two women in the vehicle, adding that the women might be in danger.

She says the women allegedly hitch-hiked to Fort Beaufort, when one of their parents received a text message that they had been abducted, and that there was a firearm in the vehicle.

Efforts to call the young women's cellphones were unsuccessful.

The car has been described as a white Volkswagen Golf, last seen this afternoon while travelling from Grahamstown in the direction of Fort Beaufort.

The vehicle's registration number is not known, and anyone with information is requested to contact the police.
