Grahamstown man on the run after child dies

Grahamstown police are searching for a local man following the death of his 9 month old baby.

Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, says the man has been on the run since Friday.

She says the child's parents had been involved in an argument over a cellphone.

Govender says the man assaulted the woman who fell to the ground.

She says it was later discovered that the child, who was strapped to the woman's back, had died.
 
A case of murder is under investigation.
