A 38 year old man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning, following the fatal stabbing of his 32 year old wife in Grahamstown.
Police captain, Mali Govender says the couple's child woke their neighbour, informing him that her parents were fighting.
She says shortly thereafter, her mother arrived with her minor children and asked for a place to sleep.
Govender says the suspect arrived and asked his wife for matches and when she did not give it to him, an argument ensued.
He then took out a knife and stabbed her in the upper body and fled. She died at the scene.
Govender says the suspect will appear in court soon on a murder charge.
