The Grahamstown High Court has dismissed an application by disgruntled ANC members who were challenging the outcome of the party's Eastern Cape elective conference.
The application was brought by ANC members in the OR Tambo‚ Joe Gqabi and Amathole regions.
They questioned whether the ANC's provincial congress in September, which ended in chaos, had been convened legitimately.
Welcoming Tuesday's judgment, ANC provincial spokesperson, Gift Nqondi, said that the court ruling affirms that internal processes of the ANC must be respected.
"Once again we want to make an appeal to all those who took the ANC to court to come back to the ANC. They don't belong to courts, they don't belong factions but they belong to the African National Congress," he said.
"We want to welcome that decision and we are on our way to the 54th National Conference over this coming weekend ensuring that there's unity and cohesion in the ANC," he said.
