A 29-year-old Gqeberha woman has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for raping a 13-year-old boy.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Thembakazi Dyamani, was sentenced in the city’s Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Spokesperson, Anelisa Ngckani, said she pleaded guilty in March, claiming to have been too drunk to dispute the allegations.
She said on 4 June 2020, the boy and his friend, who is also his age, had accompanied Dyamani to a relative of hers who also lives in Gqeberha.
“Dyamani is not related to the boys however, the three know each other. The boys spent the night at Dyamani’s relative’s house,” she said.
Ngcakani said Dyamani, who slept in between the two boys, had intercourse with the one boy, who reported the incident to his parents the following day.
She said the NPA welcomed the sentence.
