Gqeberha police say the Kabega neighbourhood watch apprehended two suspects for the alleged murder and robbery of a 60-year-old man from Van Plettenberg Street in Kabega Park in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says shortly after midnight, the suspects, aged 30 and 38, were stopped and upon searching their bags, they discovered a laptop, a medicine container, cigarettes, and meat.
She says the police were contacted and further investigation led to the house where they found the owner lying on the bed.
Colonel Naidu says he sustained a deep wound on his head and an axe was found next to the bed.
She says entry to the house was gained by forcing the sliding door open.
Both suspects were arrested by the police and are being detained on charges of murder, house robbery, and possession of suspected stolen property and are expected to appear in court soon.
