Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Mabuyane will lead a government delegation on an official visit to Lower Saxony, Germany from this weekend until 11 November.
Provincial government spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie said topping the agenda, was the exploration of further investment and trade opportunities that would mutually benefit both the Eastern Cape and Germany.
She said high-level engagements would reflect on the state of bilateral relations and similarly identify new areas of mutual cooperation.
Rantjie said the Eastern Cape and Lower Saxony had signed a joint declaration to cooperate and develop friendly relations in 1995 and subsequently renewed it in 2004.
She said the agreement had over the years resulted in the implementation of programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the province.
In addition to the envisaged engagements, the Premier will also travel to Mercedes-Benz Group headquarters to position the province in the event of future expansion by this company, and further proceed to Berlin for follow-up engagements with the business and investor community.
MEC Fundile Gade has been sworn in as the Acting Premier during this period.
