Gqeberha police have arrested a 36-year old suspect on charges of business robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says the suspect entered a vehicle workshop in Kempston Road, Sidwell on Friday holding a hockey stick in his hand.
She says he was approached by the supervisor who informed him that no one was allowed in the workshop and the suspect became arrogant and abusive and was chased off the premises.
Naidu says the suspect later returned, this time armed time with a firearm, and went into the office and took a client's car keys.
He then jumped into the vehicle and drove off.
The workshop manager chased after the suspect and followed the vehicle to Bridgemead.
Colonel Naidu says police were alerted and the suspect was arrested in the area.
It was later established that the firearm was a toy gun.
The man will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday.
