Three people were killed and four sustained injuries after three vehicles collided on the N2 between Idutywa and Mthatha on Friday.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says a VW Polo, a Dodge SUV and a Toyota quantum collided.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says a man, a woman and a minor female were declared dead at the scene.
He says the injured were rushed to the Butterworth Hospital for further medical treatment.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
