A Gqeberha man, who was shot and wounded during a robbery at the Walmer dumping site last week, has died in hospital.
55-year-old Mark Cambell went to the tip at 5th Avenue on the 13th of January to dump grass when he was approached by three well-dressed men.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says one of the men fired a shot that hit him in the cheek.
He was also wounded in the shoulder after they stole his wallet and phone.
The incident happened in front of Campbell's co-workers who were also at the tip.
The suspects ran towards Airport Valley and jumped into a white bakkie.
Colonel Naidu says Campbell died on Friday morning.
Police have now changed their investigation to that of murder.
No arrests have yet been made.
