Three men wearing masks have robbed security guards at Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha of their cell phones.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, said the robbery occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He said three security guards were in the guardhouse when they were confronted by the armed men who demanded their cell phones.
Beetge said after taking three phones the robbers fled on foot.
A case of armed robbery is being investigated by Gelvandale SAPS.
EC health department spokesperson, Siyanda Manana, said no staff members or any patients were injured during the incident.
He said the department will be providing psycho-social services to the staff at Livingstone Hospital, which he said experienced a similar incident last year.
Manana called on the public who may have information on the robbery to contact the police, noting that attacks at health facilities "have become a regular occurrence" in Nelson Mandela Bay.
