The PE Airport received 53.8 millimetres and the 3rd avenue dip in Newton Park 69.6mm.

In the East of the province, Port Alfred received 54 millimetres and East London 55mm.

There were some good falls in the interior as well, with Grahamstown receiving 32 millimetres, Graaff-Reinet 19.6mm, Addo 25mm, Bedford 28mm and Queenstown 12.4.mm

The PE branch of the SA Weather service says the rain will gradually start clearing from the west during the course of Monday.

Meanwhile, the Eskom Media Desk in the Eastern Cape said its technicians were working on restoring power to customers affected by inclement weather conditions.

It says they've been busy since Sunday night trying to bring back on line thousands of customers in various parts of the country.

The most affected areas include Butterworth, Idutywa, Willowvale, Qunu, Mqanduli, Port St Johns, Lusikisiki, Flagstaff and surrounding villages.

Eskom says they're hoping to restore power as soon as possible and that customers must treat all electricity appliances as live at all times.
