The SA Weather Service in Port Elizabeth says welcome rain fell overnight along the Eastern Cape coast and adjacent interior, with Port Elizabeth measuring between 30 and 40 mm over most of the city.
Spokesperson, Garth Sampson says along the Garden Route, Plettenberg Bay recorded 44 mm and George 55 mm up until 8 am on Saturday.
He says some good rainfall was measured in the Langkloof, which is Nelson Mandela Bay's main catchment area.

Kareedouw-area 48 to 85 mm
Patensie 26 mm
Sampson says although this is good news, a lot more rain is needed before the drought is finally broken.
He says more rain is expected on Saturday with gradual clearance from the west overnight.
