The weather office in Port Elizabeth is reporting good rainfalls in the past 24 hours - up to 8 o'clock on Wednesday morning 17 June.
Weather man Garth Samspon says Port Elizabeth and surrounds received between 16 and 34 millimetres of rain.
The Garden Route and the Karoo only received between 2 and 10 millimetres.
There were good falls in the catchment areas of Nelson Mandela Bay's main supply dams with Joubertina receiving 28 millimetres of rain, Kareedouw 23 and Patensie 8.
Sampson says good rains in recent weeks have seen the average capacity of the Metro's supply dams rise to 80%
He says extreme cold accompanied Tuesday's rain, with the mercury plunging to below zero degrees in parts of the Eastern Cape interior.
Sampson says the cold front has moved through the province but that it will remain cold as the cloud clears.
This will cause maximum outgoing radiation on Wednesday night, causing minimum temperatures to drop further.
Rain measured until 08h00 Wednesday 17 June 2015
