Grahamstown police have arrested a 44-year-old man and shut down a dagga cultivation operation on a farm outside the city.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said police were acting on information when they raided Banana Grove Farm on Tuesday afternoon.
“A team comprising of members from visible policing, support and detectives were activated. They were led by the Grahamstown Station Commander, Colonel Syed-Cassim,” Govender said..
“The team were met with the sight of an active greenhouse, dagga plants were growing on every piece of available ground. Plants were also found in the drying process hanging from the ceiling in the house,” she said.
She said the man faces charges of “cultivation of dagga and possession of dagga”.
