A man from Wilderness who was arrested on child pornography charges pleaded guilty in the George Regional Court on Tuesday.
The 38-year-old Tyrone James had more than 56 000 explicit images and videos on his phone and computer.
James was pulled over at a routine roadblock just outside of Wilderness when police found drugs in his car.
According to police, he asked to make a phone call when an alert officer saw pictures of child pornography on his phone.
James was arrested on the spot and police subsequently raided his house, in a leafy suburb in Wilderness.
There, police seized 11 hard drives, a computer and CD's containing thousands of images.
During the raid police also came across 40 dagga trees planted in the back of his garden.
The case was postponed for sentencing until the 22nd of May.
