A young Grahamstown man charged with the rape of a Rhodes University student in her digs has abandoned his bid for bail.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, says the 23-year-old appeared in court on Thursday where the case was postponed to the 16 February.
It's alleged that the suspect had broken into the woman's Victoria Road home earlier in December and attacked her when she returned home.
Police said several items belonging to the woman were recovered when police made the arrest.
