The George Municipality is to benefit from almost R1-billion in investment over then next 2 years.
That's according to premier Helen Zille and the Western Cape Cabinet following a visit to the George Municipality on Tuesday for a Cabinet Outreach session.
During the session, Western Cape Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning Minister Anton Bredell revealed that R955.4 million has been earmarked for projects in George by all provincial government departments from 2013 - 2015.
Bredell reported that the Western Cape has spent effectively 100% of its Municipal Infrastructure Grant funding since 2009 and the R455.3-million spent in the 2012/13 financial year had yielded 205 projects in sanitation, roads and storm water infrastructure, community halls and public transport among others.
