Middelburg factory could open in 2 weeks following blast

The mayor of the Inxuba Yethemba Municipality says the owners of the Middelburg factory which was rocked by an explosion yesterday hope to resume production at the factory within a week or two.
Forty one workers were injured in the blast and 18 of them were transferred to the Dora Nginza hospital in Port Elizabeth with serious burn wounds.
Mayor Nyameka Goniwe told Algoa FM News that the incident was unfortunate, adding that the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak.
She says she had a meeting with the management of Rolfe Laboratories today where she received the assurance that the company remains committed to its Middelburg operation.
Mayor Goniwe said one section of the factory which was not affected by the blast and fire will remain open.
