Three teenagers are expected to appear in the George Magistrates Court on Tuesday following their arrests in the early hours of Sunday morning for their alleged involvement in a murder.
Spokesperson Malcolm Pojie says the suspects, aged 16, 17 and 19 allegedly killed Werner Morris, a man in his mid-thirties, who allegedly robbed one of the children earlier in the day.
He says Morris' body was found in Caine Street shortly before 5 am on Sunday with a stab wound on the left side of his back.
Captain Pojie says the arrests followed after receiving information from eyewitnesses who told police that the deceased had allegedly robbed one of the teenagers which led to an altercation.
The suspects allegedly later went looking for Morris and killed him.
An autopsy will be conducted on the body of the deceased to determine the exact cause of death.
The Eden Cluster Commander, Maj Gen Oswald, has commended the members for the prompt response in ensuring the immediate arrests of the suspects as their freedom could have brought about havoc within the community as retaliation attacks could jeopardise the safety of the entire community.
