The SPCA branch in George is currently under strain due to the recent influx of animals from the Mossel Bay SPCA branch after all the animals had to
be moved due to the latest protests in the KwaNonqaba area.
More than 80 animals had to be moved to the SPCA branch in George include horses, pigs, cats, rabbits and cattle..
According to the spokesperson for the George Branch, Yvette Longmore animals from the SPCA will only be moved back to Mossel Bay branch once they are sure that the service delivery protest is over.
The George branch can now for the time being not accommodate any other animals that are brought in by the public or are seen roaming the streets as all their kennels are full. It was also according to Longmore time consuming and problematic to match the new animals with suitable new kennel friends. Due to the full kennels, the George SPCA is also losing
an extra income as they cannot accommodate animals from holiday goers.
Longmore said they would be grateful for any food donation.
